Spots have prongs that need to go through pre-punched slits in the leather and then bend over to secure. An easy way to punch slits is with the single-pronged chisels.
Use the #8040-00 3/32" chisel for smaller spots and the #8044-00 1/8" for the larger spots. Or use the Craftool Round Spot Setter Kit #8114-50.
