Agate is a microcrystaline variety of quartz (Si02) which comes in many colours and varieties. Some banded agates are found on the north shores of the Great Lakes in Ontario Canada, but most originate in the south of Brazil. The original name for agate was chalcedony. The name originated from Chalcedon, an ancient city of Aisa Minor, where it was first discovered and used as a gemstone.
Perfect for yout craft and jewelry making projects.
Stones are cut aprox 1/8" thick and vary in size from 2" to 3" in length. Polished both sides.
